Description
This contemporary Japanese Izakaya restaurant in Sydney combines a Sushi Bar and Teppanyaki counter around an open kitchen environment in combination with communal dining and intimate settings. Seating up to 100 patrons, the interior employs a theatrical approach, with an undulating floating ceiling plane of plywood coupled with bespoke lighting pendants against a darkened shell as its central focus. The detailing and palette is intentionally restrained to create a sophisticated interior where the food takes centre stage.

The project was awarded a High Commendation in the inaugural 2004 Interior Design Australia Awards (IDAA) and was shortlisted in the 2004 Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).
