Originally developed by the Western Australian Museum in collaboration with the Ledger family, this exhibition was re-staged at the National Film and Sound Archive as part of the reopening of its exhibition program. Located within a heritage gallery space, the project required both the reinterpretation of the exhibition in a new architectural context and the development of a flexible infrastructure for future exhibitions.

A proprietary wall and display system was adapted and combined with new platforms and existing cases to create a cohesive and reusable exhibition framework. The revised layout introduced a more intimate spatial experience, allowing for a sensitive portrayal of Ledger’s life, personality and creative legacy. Carefully modulated lighting and spatial sequencing lend gravitas to his body of work while maintaining an atmosphere of reflection and respect. The result is a thoughtful adaptation that honours both the original curatorial intent and the character of the NFSA’s historic interiors.
