Ginkgo Leaf is a boutique retailer of contemporary Japanese homewares, envisioned as a gallery-like setting that balances restraint with warmth. Heritage constraints required the fitout to remain structurally independent, leading to a design centred on freestanding display elements.
A translucent, backlit display wall forms a luminous backdrop for the wares, while a sculptural island plinth — crafted from black kraft paper and punctuated with timber display discs at varying heights — introduces a softer, organic counterpoint. The restrained palette and careful lighting create a calm, contemplative retail environment where the products are presented as objects of art.
