A City of Gold Coast project, the HOTA Gallery is the 3rd major element in the overall masterplan by ARM Architecture, which converts ageing cultural infrastructure and redundant commercial buildings into an arts and recreation precinct for Australia’s largest-growing city. The new gallery provides 5500sqm of gallery space, making it one of Australia’s largest regional galleries.
Located within the HOTA Gallery by ARM Architecture, this retail space sits at a major circulation junction, capturing visitors from multiple directions. Our design draws directly from ARM’s architectural and conceptual drivers, referencing William Robinson’s painting The Rainforest to create a dynamic, multi-faceted interior volume.
A bold monochromatic palette, combined with contrasts between matte and reflective finishes, provides a high-impact yet flexible backdrop for a diverse retail offer. The interior integrates a modular pegboard display system, allowing the space to adapt easily to changing merchandise and exhibition programmes while maintaining a strong visual identity.
