Warrane is a major interpretive exhibition at Macquarie Group’s global headquarters in Martin Place, exploring perspectives of place through Gadigal custodianship of Country and the colonial influence of Lachlan and Elizabeth Macquarie on Sydney’s physical and cultural identity. The exhibition is organised into thematic zones — Art of Place, Shaping Place, Caring for Place and Spirit of Place — guiding visitors through layered narratives of history, culture and environment.

A series of five-metre-high illuminated blades featuring Sydney-region rock art create a powerful spatial rhythm and define the visitor journey. Objects, physical installations, digital media and audio-visual elements are interwoven to form a non-traditional exhibition environment. The centrepiece is a four-metre-high bespoke LED screen set within the heritage arched cupola, presenting an immersive Welcome to Country led by Gadigal Elder Ray Davison. The project establishes a respectful and contemporary dialogue between First Nations perspectives, colonial histories and the architectural setting.
